Life Purpose: A Radical View – Part Three

You were created with plans and purposes written on your heart, but do you know what they are and how to access them?  I’ve been writing about life purpose in this 3 part series and have found that my own life purpose, which grows and evolves with time, is becoming more clear to me as I write about this intriguing topic.

In Part One, I wrote about the character of God and encouraged readers to get to know His unique characteristics as revealed through His letter to humankind (The Holy Bible).  In Part Two, I wrote about how we can know ourselves and our value based upon the fact that the Creator of the entire universe chose to create us, uniquely and wonderfully.  I encourage you to continue to prayerfully and continuously seek out God’s purposes for your life.  You are here at this particular time on this planet we call Earth chock full of unique personality, gifts, talents and passions which God wrote into your being as you were “knit together in your mother’s womb”.

Here I am sitting down to write Part Three of this series where I promised to share real-life examples of individuals who are living out their life purpose.  I have three unique, creative and wonderful ladies that I would like to write about.  The first one is Emily Stoik.

Emily is a mom, a wife (to Shawn Stoik), and a business owner who writes articles, coaches and mentors individuals who need help learning how to market their businesses online.  She has a moving story that will capture your heart and your attention, so I thought I’d use this entire blog article to highlight her (and her husband Shawn’s) story about living from and with purpose.  I will highlight the second wonderful lady, Teri Fitch Johnson, in Part 4 and awesome author Valerie Allen in Part 5 (yes, I’m expanding this from a 3-part series to a 5-part series – and perhaps beyond).

Here is Emily’s response to my request for her to write me a few paragraphs about living out her God-given purpose with Shawn, her wonderful husband.

“Living life ON purpose and with purpose has been a huge recurring theme for me the past few months. Shawn and I have been through a lot in the past 10 years that we have known each other but it just reinforces the fact that we were meant to be together and that God has BIG things in store for our lives and that bigger things will be accomplished together, united in Christ, than could ever be accomplished on our own. “A cord of 3 strands is not easily broken” Ecc. 4:12

God gave us a miracle by sparing Shawn’s life when he was in a huge explosion in december of 2001. We knew then and there that God had a huge plan and purpose for us. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 So we believed that and claimed it for our lives. We have gone on to speak in churches and schools about what we have been through to start spreading a message of hope and victory through Christ and that no matter what tragedy you have been through, it can all work together for good!

We are still in the process of discovering exactly what God’s purposes and plans are for our lives. Exactly where He wants us to be going and who He wants us to bless. But as we progress in our career in business and see the way He has blessed us, and the way it increases as we commit to being generous with those around us, we see that a part of that purpose is to be a Kingdom Builder.

Pouring life, hope and monetary funds back into the church and ministries that need help. We have learned that the world of the generous gets bigger and bigger. Also with all that we have been through, going from tragedy to triumph in our lives, we know that we have a powerful story to tell, so one of my goals is to one day get it all out on paper and share our story with the world. I know that we all have a purpose in our lives. None of us is here by accident. We are all loved and all have a hope and a future. And as we start pouring back into those around us with love and a servant’s heart, we will get back far more than we have given and see that a big part of that purpose really isn’t about ourselves so much but about the difference that we can make for others.”

Thank you Emily.  The world is a better place to have people like you and Shawn who are continuously seeking to give of your time, finances, and energy to help ministries who spread the good news about God and His gift of grace to humankind (through Jesus Christ, God’s son).  I pray that God will continue to show you how your unique gifts, traits and passions will be used in a mighty way to bless God and others.
